Laura Di Siena
The research project of PhD student Laura Di Siena focuses on the technological, chronological, and formal aspects that can be deduced from the analysis and study of Roman, Medieval and post-Medieval artefacts from the Forum of Caesar that came to light during recent excavations (2019-2022). The aim is to investigate the cultural, commercial and historical reality of the area through the potential information offered by the material sources, focusing on all aspects of the artefact’s life, i.e. from its construction to its use, abandonment and eventual reuse. Particular attention will be devoted to the analysis of the context in which these materials were found, in many cases related to actions concerning waste disposal, an issue inherently connected to urban, political, legislative and cultural issues. Taking these aspects into account, it is consequently possible to shed also light on the uses, customs and consumption of the community in a diachronic perspective, for which the analysis of further contexts, weather published or unpublished, in the Roman and Latium contexts, will be relevant.
